XP Game

XP Game is a great vehicle to learn about planning and velocity. It is literally a game in which teams compete to "develop" higher value than the others. No coding skills are required to participate, since the concept of "development" is transposed to more playful tasks.

Goals

Teaching:

  • the planning game
  • velocity
  • story estimation
  • short releases
  • making predictable plans
  • how to explain these things in your company

Plus, a bit of team building.

Process & timetable

1 pomodoro to introduce the game 3 pomodoros for three iterations of the game 2 pomodoros analyzing and debating (both mid game and at the end)

Anyone involved in software projects, ideally even customers. No skills required.
